Welcome to Westfield!

Dear Orchestra Students and Parents,

   Welcome to the Westfield High School Orchestra website. On behalf of the Orchestra Booster Board, I want to welcome you to the orchestra program and what we hope will be a fun and musically fulfilling 2011-2012 school year. We have many programs in place, 5 concerts performances, a fabulous Spring Break performance cruise to the Bahamas, several fundraisers that benefit both the Orchestra program as a whole and your individual student’s trip account. We are very excited to introduce a new online database for the Orchestra called Charms. This will better enable us to keep track of all information we get from you, inventory all uniforms & instruments and most importantly, to keep you informed of orchestra events as well as your student’s particular information. We are still on the learning curve for this, so please be patient as we continue to set this up.

   Things will be quite hectic the first few weeks of school. The first week of school will be spent getting all registration information and fees for each student, issuing uniforms and getting out the information for the Spring trip. There will be a Spring trip information meeting on Thursday, Sept 8. This is quickly followed by Tag Day, a mandatory Music Department fundraiser which is on Sat, Sept 24. Then there will be concerts and fundraisers throughout the year.

   We hope that you parents will get more involved in the orchestra program.  It will not only make the program better for your child, but you might be surprised how much you benefit from volunteering. The basic areas of need for volunteers are in fundraising, uniforms, and concert help. If you are interested in helping out, please indicate this on your student’s database information or you can email me through this website. And we will need volunteers just after school begins.

   So enjoy the last few days of summer and I am looking forward meeting and working with many of you. Look for the Orchestra table at the Bulldog Barbecue on Aug 30.
